We've moved about quite a bit on this trip. We've not stayed longer than three nights at any one place so I haven't really unpacked my bag. As the trip unwinds, I'm thinking of my own bed and missing it.
The days in Nairobi were very busy at first with me teaching crochet bags. I worked with four ladies and we crocheted with cotton yarn, fabric strips and plastic bag strips. One lady that was the best had not done any crochet before but she picked it up immediately and also understood what I taught them about shaping the bags with the different "yarns" we were using. I wanted them to be able to design their own after I left so they needed to know how to make a circle shape that lays flat, a square or rectangle shape and how to make the straps. I am confident that the best lady understood all that I taught and will be able to show the other ladies when they need refreshing.
We then had a few restful days with the Parkers and meeting with Purity and her husband.
Our time in England has been interesting but we could have seen Bath in a day. It was an interesting experience to stay at the YMCA with international guests. It was clean, felt safe and convenient to the sites. The only downsides were that the beds felt that they would toss you onto the floor and the pillows were hard and flat. It also was noisy in the hallways until the middle of the night. Just remember to bring a towel with you if you stay in hostels.
I've seen Oxford before so I spent this time reading and napping. We have done a lot of walking so my body was ready to rest. Bruce spent the day yesterday at the library. We leave today for Cambridge. I've been to Cambridge once for a few hours but look forward to scouting out the city this time. We have two nights there and then the last night in London before flying out on Monday morning.
I've really enjoyed the bus rides because we get to see the countryside and the little towns more closely. The trains speed through the worst parts of the towns. The buses have been comfortable and the trips short (no more than three hours at one time).
